ROBIN DANIELSSON
Black Cat
15 January – 8 March 2026
In the exhibition Black Cat, Robin Danielsson presents a series of new ceramic sculptures. The works consist of hand-painted figures in glazed stoneware. Together they form a unified universe that invites the viewer into a distinctive visual world. Danielsson’s sculptures exist in a space between the familiar and the unfamiliar. With references to folklore, surrealism, and pop culture, he creates spatial narratives in which the characters appear both serious, playful, and sometimes humorous. They may seem as they are from a fable or a fairy tale, like they have wandered into the exhibition space from another reality. At the same time, the works are clearly rooted in our time, expressed through the figures’ clothing, use of color, and posture. The sculptures convey both individuality and typology and can be read as portraits as well as mythological characters - avatars or modern icons that reflect human experiences and emotional states.
Danielsson works interdisciplinarily across various media such as drawing, painting, illustration, and music. In his artistic practice, he is especially interested in uniting personal experiences with a dreamlike, often ambiguous expression. This combination gives the works an openness that invites to interpretation, while maintaining a strong visual and material presence. In Black Cat, the sculptures appear as independent characters, but also as parts of a larger group. The exhibition opens for reflections on identity, belonging, and imagination, and provides space for both wonder and recognition.
