Pål Vigeland (b. 1944)
Pål Vigeland works with objects made of metal. With a background as a goldsmith, his fascination with entirely different metal materials has gained increasing focus. Surfaces bearing traces of previous use, which develop a natural patina, have served as the starting point for many of his works over the past 40 years. He was educated at Staatliche Werkkunstschule, Sch. Gmund, Germany and the Vestlandets Kunstakademi, Bergen. In recent years, he has held solo exhibitions at Bornholms Center for Kunsthåndværk, Østfold Kunstsenter, Borøy Kunsthandel, and Kunstbanken in Hamar. He has participated in the Annual Exhibition numerous times, most recently in 2025, and in group exhibitions such as "Open Doors" at Dronning Sonja KunstHall (2022) and Peder Balke-senteret (2022). Pål Vigeland’s work is included in the collections of KODE Bergen, the Nordenfjeldske Museum of Decorative Arts in Trondheim, the National Museum in Oslo, Haugar Art Museum in Vestfold, Sørlandets Art Museum in Kristiansand, among others. He has also created public artworks, including several in churches across the country.
