Irene Nordli (b. 1967)

Nordli has since the graduation of the Bergen Academy of Art and Design in 1996 had a number of gallery and museum exhibitions at home and abroad. Nordli teaches ceramic art at the Department of Arts and Crafts at the Oslo Academy of the Arts.

About her work she says:

“For over 20 years, porcelain has been my main material. I follow and renew the material's history. In my new works, porcelain has gradually become more absorbed in its own materiality. The fragmented and recognizable body parts move toward a greater degree of abstraction. The controlled cast goes towards a resolution and I let the modeled organic material roar and take over. My figures disappear into the camp as if I was trying to get under the skin of what I do. "
